Guest sentiment
A snapshot of what local diners frequently mention about this location.
"The wontons are gigantic and truly lived up to its name. I ordered the wonton soup (without noodles) and could barely finish all of them. Each wonton had at least three pieces of shrimp on them and there was a total of 6 pieces. The flavor is authentic and reminded me of HK wontons! We also ordered the pork Xiao long baos to share. While I'm biased with a preference for wontons over all dumplings, I thought that the Xiao long baos were pretty good too. The restaurant only has a couple of tables, but there were many take-out orders, so we were easily able to find a seat on a Friday night. Very cozy Mom and pop vibes. Would definitely come back if I'm craving HK wontons!"
"Honestly feel like Hong Kong. Is definitely really authentic and a solid meal. The portion is pretty big, I think my fav is spicy wonton is really good. The wonton noodle soup base is really flavorful and yummy, the wonton itself the portion is a bit off but is kinda their signature Big wonton. The veggie is a must get side, the beef stew is good for the meat part only. Service is better in Chinese"
"Solid wontons, but everything else just okay. So obviously, the best things I’ve had from this place were wontons. Both the pork and shrimp towns and the spicy pork & crab wontons were juicy and comforting. I slightly preferred the chili oil kick from the latter, but the regular wontons in soup were also excellent. But once I wandered off the wonton path, it got shakier. I tried the braised beef stew over noodles and the same stew over rice, plus the garlic wings. The beef itself was tender and flavorful, and the rice version I had in-store was quite good. The noodle version, though, was bad. Not because of the beef or broth, but because the noodles had a faint ammonia smell, so we ended up tossing it. The garlic wings were decent, if a bit too salty. Since the soup that came with the wontons was mild, it worked fine, but on their own, probably a bit overwhelming."
"I ordered braised beef rice and wonton soup with 3 different fillings. The beef was soft and tender and the wonton is delicious!"
"We started with the wonton in chili oil and the crispy fish skin. While both were very good, be aware that the fish skins are quite s bit. So either order them with a group or be prepared to take some home. We also had the Hong Kong style iced coffee and the salted plum spritz for beverages and they were also good. For the mains, we had the Hong Kong style wonton soup and the signature wonton noodles. Here, we felt like there was a miss. The HK noodle soup had an aroma of ammonia that was present and ruined the dish for us. *Update: we have learned that Cantonese style cooking uses an alkaline broth, and some folks experience this as ammonia. So, I will amend my overall rating up a level and may come back and try them again as it's probably an acquired taste. * For the signature noodles, I personally did not care for the texture and flavor of them, but my husband enjoyed them. For dessert, we had the golden black Phoenix buns, and they were very good and had a beautiful presentation."
"Their food was very good! Really lived up to the name gigantic wonton. I loved it so much. We both got soup and they were delicious. Maybe it’s my reference but I prefer having soy sauce on the table as condiments without having to ask for it specifically. But their food is good and authentic! Give it a try! Service was ok, wait time is a bit long and they got my order wrong, but he quickly fixed it so it’s fine."
"Gigantic Wonton has been at the top of my want-to-go list ever since I saw Instagram videos featuring the wontons. We finally visited this weekend, and it definitely won't be our last visit! The restaurant is cozy, with seating for around 20 people. The service is good and the food came out quickly. We got the signature wonton noodle soup ($14), and I loved every part of this. The soup comes with 4 huge shrimp+pork wontons, a good helping of egg noodles, and warm savory soup. The wontons are truly stuffed to the brim, and the filling is high quality -- you can see the big pieces of shrimp when you bite in. They are delicious and savory. The thin egg noodles have a nice chew and pair perfectly with the soup and wontons. The Chinese broccoli is a nice touch as well. It looks like the signature wonton soup comes with 5 wontons for $15, so I think it's not a bad tradeoff to get 4 wontons + noodles for $14. We also tried the Hong Kong style dumpling soup ($14) which comes with 6 huge dumplings. The filling here is similar to the wontons but with the addition of wood ear mushroom, which add a nice crunch. I really enjoyed this dish as well. The soup tastes a bit different from the wonton soup (it kinda tastes like they cooked the dumplings directly in the soup or something), but is still good. We also got the spicy wontons ($9) which comes with 5 (not gigantic) wontons. The chili oil has a mala kick and there's also a slight sweetness in the sauce. I thought this dish was good, but I enjoyed the soups more. To wrap it all up, we got the egg custard buns ($7 for 3), which were quite tasty. I want to try the golden black phoenix bun next time! Usually when I eat wontons at restaurants, I lament the lack of filling compared to the ones we make at home. But Gigantic Wonton definitely has our homemade wontons beat in terms of filling amount. I had a wonderful experience eating truly gigantic wontons here, and will definitely be back!"
"We order take out for dinner and does not expect much. It turns out the food is amazing! We tried trio wonton soup which all of them are good but my fav is HK style dumpling with the texture of wood ear mushroom inside. Personally, HK style Lo mein with flat egg noodle is the highlight. They know how to cook it properly to get the best noodle texture. The wagyu curry is also good. They use the right part of the meat to cook this dish."
